Godmother Cafe
The Malibu Racquet Club, although private, has
a "hidden treasure" nestled there -- sure to become your favorite lunch spot. I can't rave enough about the ambience. The
entire grounds of the Malibu Racquet Club are maintained 6 days a week -- it's
a "virtual botanical garden"! The dining area is something you'd expect to see
in a movie; you could drive a car through it. For once, I had a quiet meal without
distracting conversation at the next table. I loved this place, even BEFORE
I ordered. When you're ready to relax and savor a delicious meal, don't forget
The Godmother. "Whoa, Nellie!" Yes, yes...I did sample the
food. I love to cook, although I'm no "epicurean gourmet," or a health buff,
either. That being said, I admit The Godmother opened my eyes; delicious fare
CAN be healthy! What a concept. The menu is simplistic and balanced; -- soups,
salads, sandwiches and entrees, an endless variety for the palate. If portion
sizes are a priority, as they are to my 6' 3", 190+ frame, you WILL get your
money's worth. I usually cruise "the golden arches" after typical southern California
cuisine, but my meal at The Godmother was filling, healthy, with a specific
emphasis on flavorful spices. The best of both worlds...imagine! Their specialties
are: Tomato Bisque Soup, Chicken Pasta Salad, Curried Chicken Salad, and Chicken
Parmigiana, for starters. The Godmother also caters weddings, events and
private parties at reasonable rates. Actually, catering is their specialty
and they are synonymous with catering in Malibu. If you'd like more information,
