Tra Di Noi
"Finalmente, ehanno di ritorno!" -- success comes to those that overcome
adversity--certainly translates to Tra Di Noi. After a freakish fire
destroyed two businesses in the Cross Creek Country Mart last December, the
owners opened another successful restaurant at the other end of Malibu while
Tra Di Noi was being rebuilt. Eight months after the fire, the restaurant
with the Northern Italian cuisine is finalmente finito (finally finished).
Located on one of the main thoroughfares in Malibu Country Mart, Tra Di Noi
has a primo location! It's a great spot for visitors to "celebrity-watch" [star-gaze]
or for locals to enjoy a meal with friends and family.
Large
canopies shade the courtyard, which provides cozy seating for 40. Italian music
creates an old-world aura in the dining areas, both inside AND out. Fragrant
flowers and warm-toned linen over teak tables and chairs, provide a perfect
setting for any occasion. I'm starting to hum "Santa Lucia already and I haven't
ordered yet.
The staff is efficient, friendly and attentive, --a plus for any meal--and
the managers mingle to make sure things are running smoothly. The menu includes
salads, pastes (pastas), seafoods, meats, pizzas, interspersed with Italian
trivia for your enlightenment. Being both a pasta AND seafood lover, I splurged
and had BOTH! (Have to hit the gym extra hard tomorrow!) Italian
sauces don't usually bowl me over, but THEIR sauces were incredibly distinctive
and zesty. The Rosa (ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a pink sauce)
was..."to die for". Then, the Speciale Swordfish (see photo) was served and..."I'm
in Heaven,...hum, hum..."I'm in Heaven"--not Italian, but who cares! Other famed
specialties include San Remo (Arugola with crumbled gorgonzola cheese and belgium
endives), Spaghetti Carbonara, Tonno (pan-broiled Ahi Tuna served with a tomato
checca and vegetables), dairy-free soups, as well as an endless variety of genuine
Italian pizzas.
The meal presentation and authentic attention to detail, including Italian sparkling water, ensure a perfect lunch, dinner or special occasion. Being Italian, they LOVE to feast and are happy to entertain large parties or groups. For those on the go, their "express window" (located at the west end) provides quick and easy service.
Whether you want a memorable meal, or just want to enjoy l'italiano reale (real Italian) cuisine, experience Tra Di Noi --I highly recommend it!
