Local Wins Car Show
On September 16th, The 4th Annual Saleen Car
Show took place in Irvine, Ca. Brian Ellis,
local "Mail Boxes, Etc. employee and Mustang-freak, attended the car
show to check-out the awesome cars, and to represent B & D Racing,
the shop that works on his own car. He parked a short distance from the show,
since he hadn't had a chance to wash his car before the trip. After walking
around and scrutinizing all the cars in the show, Brian's friend, Josh Hammer,
urged him to enter his car in the show, noting there weren't many cars in his
class (1987-1993 Mustang Convertible) that could rival his. Considering his
options, Brian asked one of the guys working the show if there was a car wash
nearby. Relieved to hear there was, he took his car for a thorough treatment,
and drove back to the car show. When Brian entered his car in the show, he was
given a voting ballot, and he spent
most of the day carefully studying the cars in 26 different categories, taking
pictures, and considering which cars should be awarded the trophies. There were
so many beautiful cars there, Brian observed, including the newly-unveiled $375,000
SALEEN S7 Supercar". When the time came for trophy awards, Brian and his friends
were very sunburned, and they just wanted to go home. However, entries weren't
allowed to leave until after trophy awards. As each winner was announced, the
owner walked-up, accepted the trophy, and shook Steve Saleen's hand. While the
different categories trophies were being announced, Brian
wondered if they were the same cars he had voted for, since the winners were
announced by owner's name, not by car. When it came to Brian's class, he hoped
the victor would be the man whose car was parked next to his, because he had
been expecially nice to Brian and his friends. It wasn't meant to be...the name
they called was Brian's.
"I
won! I won first-prize at a car show...a Saleen Car Show!!!", he exclaimed.
He could hardly believe it. He walked up and shook the hand of a man he considered
as a hero. Steve Saleen, owner of Saleen, Inc., handed Brian a foot-tall, marble
trophy and congratulated him, saying, "Good job, Brian. Thanks, that's a nice-lookin'
car you've got." He may have lavished similar praise on all the winners, but
it still sounded pretty great to Brian, and his feet haven't touched the ground
YET.
