More Battery Tips
This week Im going to finish up the tech tips about automobile batteries. No, I dont mean the AA ones in stereo remote control! What is a safe way to jump start a battery with booster cables: When jump starting, always wear proper eye protection and never lean over the battery. Do not jump start a damage battery. Inspect both batteries before connecting booster cables. Be sure vent caps are tight and level and place a damp cloth over the vent caps of both batteries make certain that the vehicles are not touching and both ignition switches are turn to the 1. Connect positive (+) booster cable to positive (+) terminal of discharge battery. 2. Connect other end of positive (+) cable to positive (+) terminal of assisting battery. 3.Connect negative (-) cable to negative (-) terminal of assisting battery. 4.Make final connection of negative (-) cable to engine block of stalled vehicle, away from battery. 5. Start vehicle and remove cables in reverse order of connections. Until next week, happy highways. |
